This week, I’ve been having a rough time trying to balance school, school, family, and exercise. I have been feeling very overwhelmed. When I get to this point, I feel like my kids never listen and always whine. It is probably because of how overwhelmed I feel that everything gets on my nerves a bit more. I am sure I am not the only parent who feels like this way sometimes.
So, what do you do when you are overwhelmed?
Things I do is cry. I’ve done that a couple times this week. I also do my best to find extra time to get my stuff done. This week, Eva and Marie have had movie days in our basement as I worked on my articles so that I could get everything done. I find making a list of priorities and breaking it up throughout the week helps. I actually feel much better today than I did on Monday or Tuesday. Do I still have lots to do? Yes. But, I have accomplished a lot, and that makes me feel better.
I think because of all this stress, I have lost motivation to work out and eat healthily. But, I am pushing on and trying to avoid the urge to stuff my face with chips, pop, an entire pizza, and any other junk food that isn’t nailed down. I have had a single slice of leftover pizza and gummies though. Baby steps I guess. I am still pushing through and doing well, and I have to remember that in order to establish a healthy lifestyle, I have to make this a part of my life. This week, that is a challenge. But I will push on!
I think something else that we have to do when we want to shut down is TRY to find time to do things we love. Even if that means that we need to take time to go for a walk, go for a bath, or read for 30 minutes. It is important to take time for yourself when you are feeling overwhelmed. So make sure you take care of yourself, no matter how stressed you are.
