Prioritizing Yourself

Over the past few weeks, Jarrett and I have decided to work on living healthier lifestyles. For us, it is a constant challenge to stay healthy. To us, this means eating healthier foods with smaller portion sizes. It also means exercising. While we have fallen off the bandwagon before, this time seems different. I think it is because we are motivated by health reasons. Both Jarrett and I have been suffering from pain that is related to weight gain and muscles that aren’t strong enough to support us. Having the motivation to stop the pain feels like it is pushing us in a positive direction.

I guess we can all set our minds to whatever we want as long as we have the right motivation?

The hardest part about all of this is MAKING the time to exercise. Not finding the time. I was reminded yesterday that it is important that we take time for ourselves to stay healthy. Or get healthy. We make time to eat, shower, sleep, and work. These things sustain us. (work for monetary reasons). Exercising is no different if we want to live our best lives. It does not have to mean you need to fit any specific image. That isn’t the point. The point is finding time so that you feel happy in the body that you have, and that you can do anything you want to without hurting yourself physically. Whatever that looks like for you is perfect.

Jarrett and I have plans to do big hiking trips with the kids as they get older and when we retire, drive around the United States and Canada doing as many hikes as we can. I want to be able to hike and not want to die when I try to hike a mountain. These are things I am going to keep reminding myself so that I succeed this time.
