While my family does not use ranch dip all the time, it is still a pretty big staple in our kitchen as I love using it with buffalo chicken wraps and wings. It can be very frustrating when I go for ranch dip and it is gone. The other night, I went to make some wings and was very disappointed to realize that we were out of dip. Out of curiosity, I thought I would turn to the wonderful world of Google and see how hard it would be to make a ranch dip.
I can tell you I was SO excited when I realized that it is comprised of three ingredients, plus seasonings. THREE!
All you need is sour cream, mayonnaise, and milk. Can you believe it?
After you make the base, you throw some seasoning in to make it taste like ranch dip, and then you are good to go!
The recipe I used was from Barefoot in the Kitchen, and I just have to share it because it was so simple and delicious.
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup buttermilk or regular milk
Mix these three ingredients together, and then add the seasoning.
- 3/4 – 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon dried chives
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/8 teaspoon finely cracked pepper
- freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste approximately 1-3 teaspoons, adjust to taste
You can add more or less seasoning, depending on what you are looking for in a dip.
Now, you no longer have to worry about running out of ranch dip anymore! The dip lasts for about a week and makes a cup and a half of dip. If you don’t want all the dip, I recommend just halfing the recipe. If you want a thicker option, you can cut out the milk.
