A Special Thank You

July is always a busy month in my house because all three children have birthdays. Birthdays are very special to me and I strive to make sure my kids feel special on their birthdays too. For parties, I go all out. The parties are themed and we have lots of food and drinks. Jack gets his own party and the girls, while they share a party, each get to pick the theme they want and they each get their own cake. This year was Ariel and Cinderella. Jack had a Minnie Mouse theme.

While I usually over do it with the parties, the best part of these days, in my opinion, is being able to celebrate with family and friends. The kids don’t have a whole lot of friends their age yet, so the parties are mostly family and friends we consider as family. There are a lot of aunties and uncles and grandparents who come to our house for parties. And they make my kids feel so special. They spoil them with gifts, give them tons of love and attention and make them feel so special when they come to visit.

I think that whether your family are your friends or your immediate family, it’s important to take a moment and appreciate those people who make your lives special. Those who are special to you never expect a thank you, but it’s always nice to let them know they are appreciated. I know that I am very lucky to have such amazing people in my life and my family’s life. Others are not as lucky, but I hope that you can find at least one or two people who you consider as family. Let them know that you appreciate them. Thank them for spending time with your kids. Or coming to family dinners. Or just being there when you need a friend.

So, this is a special thank you to our family; both those related by blood and those who we have adopted as family. I can’t thank you enough for the love that you give to my kids. Jack is always SO excited when he gets to see his aunties and uncles. And there are lots of you.  He is constantly asking to see his grandmas and grandpas. And he loves you all, and is always SO happy when you spend time with him and play games with him. While Eva and Marie sometimes take a while to warm up to people, they still love you all very much too. They are starting to talk, so I have no doubt they will be asking to see you all very soon too!

The community that surrounds my family is a strong one, and Jarrett and I are so thankful to have so many wonderful people who love us and our children. There are no real words to thank those friends who make our lives better, and who have accepted our children as family and treat them like their own nieces and nephews. It is very special to us.

We are so lucky to have family who is there for us no matter what, through thick and thin. We both have parents who are involved in our children’s lives and love them and us unconditionally. And that is such a blessing. We have cousins and aunts and uncles are actively involved in our lives and go out of their way to attend family functions to see us and our children. And we are so thankful for them too.

So, thank you to everyone who drove out for birthday parties two weeks in a row so each of my kids could have a special birthday party. Thank you for buying them amazing presents, even when you didn’t have to. (They have played with all the toys and love all of them!! They even love the clothes they got!) Thank you for being a part of our family. We love you all and are so lucky to have you in our lives.
