The holidays are almost over, but there are always reasons to try some new, fun drinks when hanging out with friends or celebrating the next big event in your life. Here are some of my favorite drinks!
Rootbeer and Eggnog Milkshake
I just learned about this drink, and I now have a reason to buy a ton of eggnog. I though it sounded weird, but when I tried it, it was delicious! Pour about half a cup to three quarters of a cup of eggnog and top it off with rootbeer! Like a float, you can add as much or as little rootbeer as you want according to your taste preferences. It tastes exactly like a rootbeer milkshake!
1 can concentrated Orange Juice
1 can of water
2 cans Gingerale
2 tbsp Grenadine
marachino cherries or orange slices (optional)
This is always my go to when making a alcohol free punch for parties. Dump a can of orange juice into a punch bowl or pitcher, and then use that can to measure out the rest of the liquids. I like to mix together the orange juice and water, and then add the gingerale so that you don’t loose the carbonation in the soda. Add a bit of grenadine for a bit of extra flavor, and then you’re done! I like to add some marachino cherries and have them floating in the punch as an extra added touch.
Berry fruit tea
Jarrett and I love to drink tea, so when a friend of mine said she was having a tea party, there was no question that I would be there. She served a drink that really surprised me, because you don’t really think of steeping tea in anything but water. This drink is a berry tea steeped in gingerale. It’s DELICIOUS! Just steep your berry tea in your gingerale for about 15 minutes. You can leave it longer if you want as the flavors will just keep developing. You can check out the Steeped Tea website for more tea drink ideas!
1 oz. of SOHO (lychee liquor)
1 cup of sprite
This is one of my husbands favorite drinks. It’s super easy to make as it is just SOHO and sprite with a squeeze of lemon. It’s a really light and refreshing drink! It also goes down like juice… so beware!
Vanilla Coke Cocktail
1 oz of vanilla tequila (or other vanilla alcohol)
1 can of coke
When my husband and I were in Mexico on our honeymoon a couple years ago, we found a vanilla tequila when we were in Puerto Vallarta. We decided to buy it and were very pleasantly surprised when we mixed it with coke! It tastes exactly like vanilla coke! We were disappointed when we ran out, as you can only get it from the Vallarta area, but thankfully we have wonderful family who brought us back some vanilla tequila from Mazatlan! It has a lighter vanilla flavor than then one from Vallarta, but it is a very smooth tequila that has a very nice after taste of vanilla.
Berry Tea Sangria
1 bottle of wine
Another drink that I got to try at my friends tea party was a tea sangria. Once again, I was very surprised when I could make drinks other than tea with my tea! I made this drink a couple weeks ago for some family, and they seemed to like it! I used about 3 scoops of berry tea and steeped it in a white wine for a couple hours in the fridge. It was pretty good. You can also use red wine. I recently found a bunch of cocktail and sangria recipes that I could have followed on the Steeped Tea website, so if you want to find a bunch of different alcoholic options for tea you can check out the site! Feel free to message me if you want any of the teas and I’ll get you in contact with my friend! The teas are quite delicious.
So, there you have it. Some unique drinks to try in the coming new year! I’m always looking for new, fun ideas if you want to share your own unique drinks!
